Carmelo Anthony is headed to the Big Apple

Have you heard the news? Carmelo Anthony has finally decided to make a decision. It’s official ya’ll! Melo is back home--exactly where he wanted to be.

New Jersey had a decent offer on the table (Devin Harris, Ben Uzoh, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, and four draft picks. By the way, four draft picks is an outrageous amount of picks.). That deal should've been done.

Just one little problem sports fans--this arrangement would’ve sent a super-talented Carmelo Anthony to NEW JERSEY! I thought he was about to become a Net. So close. We’re all so very gullible.

Had that actually happened, one would be forced to question whether or not he’s serious about winning, like he claims to be. Carmelo said in the very beginning that New York was his desired destination; that he wants to be a Knick. (not to mention the fact that he wants to win and bust hangs with his boy, Jay-Z. Melo might've been able to achieve the latter as a New Jersey Net, but the former ain't happnin'.)

The Knicks were hesitant to give away Gallinari (along with Felton and Chandler) because the Nuggets were just offering up Billups and Anthony. New York wanted a few more "fillers" thrown into the fray.

The package that was offered to New Jersey was apparently good enough for Knicks owner, James Dolan. After it was pretty much decided that New York was out of the running to sign our boy Melo, Denver offered that super-package to New Jersey and the deal was as good as done, or so we thought.

The deal was done...pending Anthony’s approval. Then things got a little stagnant. This idleness afforded New York the opportunity to re-think things and ultimately, we gave-in. Arrivederci, Gallinari.

Letting Carmelo get away would’ve been an error too grand to be forgiven/forgotten. The fans probably would've burned down Madison Square Garden. When the rumors started, I was as giddy as the next Knicks fan, but then I started hearing the wrong names being thrown into the deal, and the giddiness became bitterness, anger.

It really doesn't matter what I want; I’m aware of this. These are the terms of the deal, which included the Minnesota Timberwolves:

Knicks receive: Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Sheldon Williams, Corey Brewer and Renaldo Balkman.

Nuggets receive: Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, the Knicks 2014 first-round pick, the Warriors 2012 & 2013 secound-round pick

Timberwolves receive: Eddy Curry, Anthony Randolph

Out with the old. An adjustment period is upon us, New York. Some would say that happy days are here again. Why would they say such things? ( I was kind of happy) People can be so hard to please. Just ask Melo.

The drama is finally over. Can we play basketball now?
